For 30 years and counting, Second Stage Theatre has provided an artistic home for American Playwrights, launched careers of nationally recognized artists and cultivated new audiences. In 2012, Second Stage Theatre is solidly positioned to purchase our first permanent home-the 600 seat Helen Hayes Theater on 44th Street, in the heart of the Theatre district. The acquisition of a permanent home secures the artistic future of Second Stage Theatre and the artists we nurture. In keeping with the intimate theatrical experience and style that Second Stage is known for, the Helen Hayes Theatre will become the only Broadway Theater dedicated solely to the plays and musicals by American playwrights and composers.
